As of today, I'm actually getting seriously involved in a rather important situation. Here in California the arts are getting cut out right and left from pretty much EVERYTHING. Not just schools, but the community too. However, right now I'm dealing with my college's cuts and I am one of the head people running a protest to appeal their decision.

Unfortunately, between this and trying to finish school AND trying to get in some of my own creative time. It leaves me with very little extra spare time for DA. Also, now that i'm getting more into fine arts then digital illustration I can't really post as fast. SO, from now on I will no longer be posting to DA .

However, I will leave this account alive to check updates and messages for sometime until I just can no longer even be on the internet. Since I have responsibilities with running the :iconforartistsaid: club I will try my best to continue to help.

I'm currently working on getting up a site so when that is done. I will announce it and if you want to see my work you can go there.

Since I have a few weeks in my subscription I'm going to take advantage of it and plug a friend. :iconshinavar: Is really needing some help right now and i've plugged her in :iconforartistsaid: as well so it's offical! Here's some examples of her work.

Pretty cool huh? Tenor is an awesome character artist and we all know how you love to see your own character. So, help an artist out and get what you want for half off

Thanks~ 83

National Portfolio Day is the most insane push of a group of people in a small space to ever have been invented. There were HUNDREDS of people there I wanted to scream - I only spoke to four reps and I wanted to see a few more schools. However, I got a very nice response from most of the schools- but I know this is just the process to get you in. Though, I did notice the difference from kiss ass schools that wanted everyone from the schools that were genuinely interested in me. ( I won't state what school- but one was pretty much telling everyone they could come to their school I will say, it's here in CA. >> NOTE ME if you want to know.)

Though, I do know even still I will research these schools out the ass about scholarships and how much they intend to help me. I know for a fact I don't want to be in debt and I still believe schooling should be free- if I don't get full tuition help I'm not going, maybe I sound like a dick but I don't care. I have my reasons- I can seek help elsewhere you know.

ANYWAY........

-- And now a statement;

I know I've always been pretty much against art schools except for the fact of the learning experience and using them for grounds of proving you can have the choice to go or not. I still believe the school you go to (if you choose to go) does NOT make you the artist you are- in fact a lot of them try to change your style or voice to reflect 'modern times'. I still stand strongly with the fact that what matters is what you do with that education and if your an artist STAND by your true voice don't let those 'professor's' change you only help you with the technical and business aspects. Keep that self taught attitude!

Well, I think the one who says it best is a local artist I really looked up to when he came to visit my JC and made a speech. 'I consider myself to be a self-taught artist; I have been working professionally for over twenty-five years. Although I possess a BFA in Sculpture and Ceramics from the California College of Arts and Crafts and a MFA in Sculpture from Claremont Graduate University, my education before and during college was more about the academic process rather than creative enhancement. I chose the path of higher education so that I could better develop my ability to understand and express the inner workings of my creative mind.' MIKE CHUKES. <a href "www.joycegordongallery.com/art…"> the rest of his bio He believed in this ideal fully and he inspires me a lot till this day. I still wish I could have talked to him more 8)

:rose: Happy Belated New Years :rose:

I have been deciding for the last few months if I wanted to abandon this account and make a newer more sophisticated one. However, after much thought and debate instead of abandoning this account I'm going to be using it for my character concepts, fashion/costume doodles, digital work, and pretty much everything in the name of fun.

:bulletred:In addition I've made a whole new account dedicated to my more professional stuff like my paintings(sculptures, crafts, etc)and all traditional finished works. If your watching me already please feel free to also watch that account.
